The Locator - by Leslie Smith
I found a show called ‘The Locator' a couple of weeks ago, and once I watched one episode I couldn't stop watching the other ones. If you haven't seen this show, let me tell you a little bit about it so that you can fully understand what I'm going to be writing about. In short, ‘The Locator' is Troy Dunn. In 1990, Troy helped his own mother, who was adopted as a baby, locate her own biological family. That single event inspired Troy to help people reunite with long lost friends and family members.
Whenever I watch an episode of this show, I have found myself literally crying like a baby. Tears of sadness roll down my face as I listen to their personal stories, most often, of sacrifice. As you get to the middle of the show, the tears become tears of happiness as these people finally re-unite. What Troy does is re-unite them in a surprising way, where one of them doesn't know that they are finding who they were looking for.
So I was lying in bed, ready to go to sleep, reflecting, and a comparison began to arise.
Some of us walk around in our lives, always feeling that something is missing. We try desperately to fill that emptiness with a variety of things, such as people, food, cars, clothes, jewelry, homes, etc. Yet, after a while, the emptiness returns. We find that there just isn't anything that truly makes that hole inside disappear.
But you see, we have our own ‘Locator'. This Locator has always been with us. We've just overlooked it. Our Locator does things to get our attention, and sometimes these things are subtle, and other times, our Locator hits us right on the head! Even then, we may not listen. But one day, we find that we just can't ignore our Locator any longer. So, we begin a different kind of journey than we've ever embarked on before. Ultimately, we find that in our quietest moments, we can actually hear our Locator! We begin to listen, we begin to experience, and we begin to feel! By following the guidance of our Locator, we are led Home. We realize that Home isn't a far out destination. Home has always been with us, and with this realization comes a deep peace, a sense of belonging, and there is no longer any emptiness. There is a release of emotion when we find our Home again.
Much like I described above, we have a reunion like we've never had before.
Find your Locator, you don't have to look very far, and most of all, follow Its guidance, and you will begin to remember who you are.
Peace,
Leslie
